​How much does an architect cost in New Zealand?

​It depends on the scope of work, but as a rough guide, architectural fees for a full service (concept through to construction observation) typically run between 5% and 10% of the construction cost. For a smaller or more straightforward project, it can be less. We also offer concept-only packages for people who want strong design direction but plan to work with a builder or draughtsperson for the documentation stage. We're upfront about fees from the first conversation and we don't start the clock until we've agreed on a scope together. Fees are staggered and paid once you're happy with where the design is at.
